Restore Vision partners jointly host the 7th European Anirida Conference
The 7th European Aniridia Conference took place from Friday, May 31, to Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Stockholm, Sweden. This event was jointly hosted by Restore Vision partners Aniridia Europe and Linköping University.
Held biennially, the conference gathers researchers, practitioners, patients, and industry representatives to share the latest scientific know-how, experiences and ideas about the rare genetic condition aniridia and aniridia-related diseases. Aniridia Europe organises the conference every two years in collaboration with the host country’s national aniridia association, which was Aniridia Sweden for this year. Researchers and clinicians presented their latest findings to an audience of scientists and patient representatives.
The event featured a keynote lecture on “dry eye disease – myths and facts”, followed by scientific sessions and panel discussions on topics such as glaucoma in aniridia, new research areas, artificial iris, keratopathy, stem cells, and challenges for managing aniridia in children.
Restore Vision Principal Investigator Prof. Neil Lagali from Linköping University, Sweden, chaired the scientific committee, which included Barbara Poli, President of Aniridia Europe, and Ivana Kildsgaard, President of Aniridia Sweden.
Dr. Dominique Brémond-Gignac, Chairperson of the scientific committee of Aniridia Europe, chaired a session on glaucoma and aniridia and presented a talk titled “Posterior Segment Anomalies in PAX6-related Congenital Aniridia.”
