Restore Vision at ARVO Conference in Seattle

The Restore Vision Consortium had a significant presence at the ARVO 2024 “Vision for the Future” conference from 05th-09th May 2024 in Seattle, Washington to present our work on new therapies for rare ocular diseases.
The ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Opthamology) Annual Meeting is the premiere gathering for eye and vision scientists from across the globe, students, and those in affiliated fields to share the latest research findings and collaborate on innovative solutions.
The meeting was attended by 11,631 delegates from 61 countries with 15 Restore Vision team members present from partners NUIG, UKK, INS, OSR, KOL, LIU and UMH. Among the highlights:
- Professor Thomas Ritter presented a poster describing his laboratories work on licencing of Extracellular Vesicles to enhance their immunomodulatory capability.
- Dr Raquel Gregario of INS presented a poster entitled ‘Physicochemical characterization of new medical-grade spironolactone formulations for the anterior and posterior segments of the eye’’.
- Dr. Wei Zhang and Dr. Mert Mestanoglu presented 2 posters on their Restore Vison research work entitled ‘’Human Data on High-Risk Keratoplasty Combined with Fine Needle Diathermy and Corneal Crosslinking for Regression of Pathological Corneal Neovascularization, Increased Stability and Improvement of Graft Survival’’ and ‘’Antisense eye drops only or combined with fine needle diathermy could be used to regress corneal neovascularization in mice’’
The feedback from the conference was overwhelmingly positive, and it was a great chance for our team to connect and discuss with key stakeholders in the eye and vision research community.
