Prof. Neil Lagali

Professor, Experimental Ophthalmology - Linköping University

Prof. Lagali leads a research group focusing on corneal disease, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and corneal imaging at the Department of Ophthalmology, Linköping University, Sweden. The research spans basic science, preclinical, translational, and clinical studies in diverse conditions such as keratoconus, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, aniridia, dry eye disease, corneal infections, and post-COVID-related eye problems. He is leading several European projects and networks focusing on corneal diseases. His team employs innovative models of corneal disease, including surgically-induced and transgenic models, for conditions such as keratoconus, neuropathic keratopathy, aniridia, and corneal neovascularization. He is an associate editor for The Ocular Surface journal and has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles in the field of corneal disease.
