Dr. Wei Zhang

Postdoctoral fellow Department of Ophthalmology, University of Cologne

Dr. Zhang is a postdoctoral fellow at the Experimental Ophthalmology, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Cologne, Germany. He studied clinical medicine at the Hebei Medical University (Bachelor) and did ophthalmological training at Tianjin Medical University (Master) and Hebei Eye Hospital (Resident doctor and Attending doctor), China.
He successfully completed his Dr. med. degree with “Magna Cum Laude” at the University of Cologne under the supervision of Prof. Claus Cursiefen. Dr. Zhang’s research primarily focuses on “Induction of corneal transplant tolerance by anti-(lymph)angiogenic therapy.” He has gained specific expertise in high-risk keratoplasty and various mouse models of corneal injury.
Dr. Zhang’s research findings have been published in renowed journals, including Prog.Retin.Eye Res., IOVS, BJO, TVST, Cornea, and Die Ophthalmologie.
